Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan

Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan is a Pakistani pop and classical singer, songwriter, and composer belonging to the Patiala Gharana tradition of music. He was the lead vocalist of the Pakistani pop rock band Fuzön until 2006 and is a prominent singer in the Indian film industry, including Ra One, Barfi and My Name is Khan and massively popular Sufi rock pop ballad Mitwa from Kabhi Alveda Na Kehna, in which he provided the intoxicating vocals for actor Shah Rukh Khan.


Describing his approach to composing music, Ali stated in an interview, "blending eastern classical with western pop rock is what I love to do the most” (Hardik, 2019). Infusing elements of classical music, Ali has sung in numerous languages including Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Arabic, Bengali, and Gujarati, and he performs regularly in shows and concerts around the world. He has fondly been nicknamed the "Rockstar Ustad" by Salim Merchant of the Salim–Sulaiman duo (Singh, Nonika, 2013).
